POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Compact Network Mexico is recruiting a Social Impact Specialist to support its work on social impact initiatives as well as the Sustainable Development Goals. This new position is a great opportunity for individuals wanting to grow a career in the field of corporate responsibility and sustainable development.

The Social Impact Specialist will report directly to the Impact Coordinator and will be working closely with the Environmental Impact Specialist, the Communications & Marketing teams from The Global Compact Network Mexico and will also work closely with the global programmatic team of the UN Global Compact Office.

The position will be responsible for the execution of plans for positive corporate impact on social issues that facilitate the adoption of the Ten Principles and the accomplishment of the Sustainable Development Goals in businesses including but not limited to positive impact on Human Rights, Diversity & Inclusion (DEI) and Decent Work within companies and their supply chains. The focus is the implementation of Global and Local Impact Initiatives which are accelerator programmes and capacity building sessions designed to advance sustainable practices in businesses and to scale collective impact of companies (SDG Ambition, Target Gender Equality, Webinar Series, among others).

 

Please note that while this role is within the Global Compact Network Mexico team, the successful candidate will not be formally employed by the United Nations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as Social issues expert
  • Assist with planning and coordination of Social Impact programs and their related activities.
  • Implementation of the Global Social Impact Initiatives
  • Design, plan and execute local initiatives and programmes for Social Impact
  • Execution of the local training programmes and webinars
  • Define and track key performance metrics that can lead to stronger social impact and awareness
  • Collect, manage, and report on social impact data and latest trends within the Global Compact ecosystem and externally
  • Develop and manage partnerships for Social Impact, ensuring that selected partners are mission-aligned
  • Research, analysis and generate insights, materials, and content on Social Impact issues
  • Technical support to the 2030 Agenda Working Groups
  • Support the organisation of local events

 

The Global Compact Network Mexico has a very broad mission, but the Network team is small, so the Social Impact Specialist may be required to support other activities from time to time.

 

SKILLS AND CAPACITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • A demonstrable knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals and the responsible and sustainable business agenda; especially social issues including but not limited to Human Rights, Diversity & Inclusion (DEI) and Decent Work
  • Experience of managing successful projects, including events
  • Sound communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Dynamic, proactive, creative, and well-organised person

 

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A first-level university degree in Corporate Social Responsibility, international relations, social science, or related field. We are looking for a business and impact mindset person.

Work Experience: 1+ years of work experience in business and/or consultancy.

Languages: Advanced English level (Level C1) and native or Advanced Spanish level (Level C2).

 

LOCATION AND CONDITIONS

Although the position can work remotely, it is expected that the person attends the office and events in Mexico City several days per month. Travel expenses to Mexico City will not be covered.

It is a full-time flexible position with benefits well over legal requirements.
